The Matisse Chimes
Notice the shiny metal tubes among the tree trunks. Actually those are a series of chimes placed in the forest by Paul Matisse, a relative of Henri Matisse. The six aluminum bells are shaped like organ chimes. They hang from the limbs of oak trees deep in the forest behind Wright Road. They ring quietly and echo quietly off the surrounding hills when someone pulls an attached rope. In the photos below, my friend Brian and I ring some of the chimes. More here.
